Mikey Enright, the owner of the Barber Shop in Sydney, launched a range of men’s grooming products (made by Enright’s Original Gin Company) that contain gin at The Barber Shop salon and bar on Tuesday 15 March 2017.

Mikey Enright is an award-winning barman and former Head of Bars for Merivale. He is also one of the best barbers in Sydney. He has combined his love of gin and men’s grooming to create a men’s grooming range made by his company, Enright’s Original Gin Company.

Enright’s Original Gin Company scented grooming products are made in Australia from the finest natural ingredients. They comprise of no petroleum. They contain 16 botanicals of benefit including Juniper, Bergamot, Ginger, Cardamon, Coriander Seed, Grains of Paradise, Lavender, Rosemary, Rose, Orris Root, Violet, Cyprus, Liquorice Root, Sweet Orange and Lemon.

The event would not be complete without gin cocktails and guests had a choice of three to drink all night: gin and tonic; gin goblet; and gin martini. There was also cold meat and cheese boards to go with the gin, and a range of canapes going around.

Pyrmont Growers Market showcases their freshes produce on a market tour and lunch at Black Bar and Grill

Pyrmont Growers Market has returned to Pyrmont Bay Park (Pirrama Road, Pyrmont NSW) every fourth Saturday of the month from 7:30am to 12:00pm and, on the first Saturday back (25 February 2017), media were taken on a tour of the market and spoiled afterwards with a four course meal made with ingredients from the stallholders at Black Bar and Grill at The Star.

Pyrmont Growers Market offers unique gourmet produce and top quality fresh food straight from the field and farm. For 18 years, Pyrmont Growers Markets was one of the most popular and well-attended markets in the city until it closed in April 2016 when Fairfax decided to no longer sponsor it. The likes of Pepe Saya and Toby’s Estate have made names for themselves selling their products here, and some of Australia’s most celebrated chefs have demonstrated on the market stage.

It is now produced and operated by the Pyrmont Ultimo Chamber of Commerce and proudly supported by The Star. The markets offer a green, sustainable and relaxed community focused event.

The market stalls we visited as part of the tour included: Grima’s Farm Fresh Produce (third generation farmers who pick their fruit and vegetables fresh daily); Pepe Saya (producer of the best cultured butter made from local ingredients, including a new smoked cultured butter that we all tried); Luca Ciano sauces (a premium Italian sauces product range created by two Michelin star chef Luca Ciano); Badass Biscuit Co (badass cookies made by chef Katrina Igham); Long Paddock eggs (free range eggs from a Canberra region farm that has 185 hens per hectare, not 10,000); Alto Olives (who produce exceptional quality olive oil and olives including an award-winning olive oil with olives that are native to Australia); Achacha (a prized tropical fruit from Bolivia that is grown in Queensland); Westview Limes (the makers of award winning sauces from the Mid North Coast of NSW); Near River Produces (producers of pasture raised heritage pork and field grown vegetables); The Little Big Dairy Co (producers of high quality milk from one dairy traceable down to the very cow that made it); Riverina Jerky (makers of the best quality jerky that is full of flavour and texture); German Butchery (award winning German butcher making small goods and cheeses); Parker’s Organic juices (juices made with Australia fruit without chemical fertilisers and pesticides); and many others.

Black Bar and Grill, the fine dining restaurant at The Star, prepared a four course lunch using seasonal produce from the market stalls. The first course was zucchini flowers with crispy goat’s curd lemon oil. The entree was a garden salad made from heirloom carrots, peas, smoked ricotta, mint meringue, serrano ham and hazelnut vinaigrette. The main course was fillet grass fed with white polenta, crispy sweetbread, king brown mushrooms, pencil leeks, and black pepper sauce. The dessert was warm couverture ganache, hazelnut mousse, banana ice-cream, cookie crumble. There was also a seafood dish prepared for a pescetarian in the group.

Pyrmont Growers Market is returning to Pyrmont Bay Park

The Pyrmont Growers Market is back at Pyrmont Bay Park and, to celebrate, a launch party was held on Wednesday 16 February 2016 at PizzAperta at The Star.

Pyrmont Growers Market is back at Pyrmont Bay Park (Pirrama Road, Pyrmont NSW) from 25 February 2016 and every fourth Saturday of every month from 7:30am to 12:00pm.

The Markets will once again offer unique gourmet produce and top quality fresh food straight from the field and farm.

Pyrmont Growers Market started as a single one-off event that was part of the 1998 Good Food Month but continued for 18 years and became one of the most popular and well-attended markets in the city. It closed in April 2016 when Fairfax decided to stop sponsoring it. The likes of Pepe Saya and Toby’s Estate have made names for themselves here, and some of Australia’s most celebrated chefs have demonstrated on the market stage (such as Rockpool’s Neil Perry, Marque’s Mark Best, Biota’s James Viles, and Victor Churchill’s Anthony Puharich).

It is now produced and operated by the Pyrmont Ultimo Chamber of Commerce and proudly supported by The Star. The Pyrmont Ultimo Chamber of Commerce engaged food consultant Tawnya Bahr from Straight to the Source to secure the finest local producers and farmers to be part of the markets. The markets will offer a green, sustainable and relaxed community focused event.

The food at the launch party was made from ingredients sourced from the new stallholders at Pyrmont Growers Market. Guests were served two types of pizzas: ham and mushroom pizza made with Pino Dolce Vita smoked ham, mushrooms, San Marzano tomatoes and mozzarella; and vegetarian pizza made from eggplant, olives, pumpkin, zucchini, cherry tomato, basil and crescenza cheese. They were also served an Australian ocean trout roll with zucchini, leek, pumpkin puree and crescenza cheese. The roll is not a regular menu item at PizzaPerta but it was a standout dish that they should consider adding.

PizzaPerta is an open-air piazza style Italian Pizzeria and Bar operated by Stefano Manfredi (who was also present on the night). It serves pizzas, focaccias, salads, sides and desserts. His head chef, Gianluca Donzella, managed the kitchen and told me that they also make gluten free pizza that is popular with people with celiac disease.

The all-new Holden Astra is launched with a VIP party and a performance by The Veronica’s

Holden held a VIP launch party to celebrate the arrival of the all-new Holden Astra to Australia at Three Blue Ducks Rosebery on Thursday 15 December 2016.

To launch the 2016 European Car of the Year to Australia, Holden hired The Veronica’s as the special guest performers for the VIP party. The Veronica’s (consisting of twin sisters Jess and Lisa Origliasso) released the singles ‘In my Blood’ and ‘On your Side’ in 2016. They played a DJ set, sang along to their biggest tracks and took selfies while on stage. Dangerous Dan (Dan Single) was the other DJ celebrity act who played afterwards.

It was a strong celeb turnout including: model Maddie King and Yaya Deng; Cronulla Sharks captain Paul Gallen; TV personality Mieke Buchan; MKR contestants Scott Gooding, Will Stewart and Steve Flood; Bachelor contestants Keira Maguire and Noni Janur; Bachelorette contestant Samuel Johnston; actor Sean Keanan; presenter and celebrity make-up artist Michael Brown; and Channel Seven Morning Show stylist Donny Galella.

Most celebrities were chauffeur driven to and from the venue in a Holden vehicle.

Canapes for the party included: prosciutto and grissini; cured kingfish, lime, grapefruit, cucumber, charred corn and buttermilk; smoked eggplant, sumac, shallot and spiced labeh; Piri Piri chicken thigh with spiced yogurt and chickpea salad; beef brisket and marmalade on toast; tomato, burrata, basil and fennel salt. There also were two grazing stations with roast pork and bread.

There were two desserts of: toasted marshmallow, chocolate and peanuts; and sea salt meringue, lemon curd, Chantilly and berries.

Drinks for the night included: frose with gin, Lord Nelson Brewery Three Sheets Pale Ale; 4 Pines Brewing Kolsch; Oakvale Rose 2016 Hunter Valley; Pedestal Pinot Gris 2016 Margaret River; Frankland Estate Chardonnay 2014 Frankland River,Western Australia; and Vinea Marson Prosecco 2014 Heathcote Victoria.

Non-alcoholic drinks included: sparkling water, organic cola, ginger beer, lemonade, cold pressed juices (beetroot, orange and kale).

The new Holden Astra is designed and engineered in Germany. It has high-tech features, efficient performance and sophisticated design. It goes on sale in December 2016.

Vans relaunches their flagship store in Sydney’s CBD

Vans (an action sports footwear and accessories company originating from California, USA) relaunched their refurbished Sydney store in The Galeries Sydney on Thursday 8 December 2016.
Since 1966, Vans has captured the youth market with their action sports shoes and accessories. Skateboarders were the first to embrace the brand all over Southern California and then it grew to include other sports such as BMX, surfing, wakeboarding, snowboarding, freestyle, motocross and supercross. By 2003, Vans enters the world of high fashion and in 2005 Vans collaborates with major fashion designers such as Marc Jacobs. In 2006, Vans launches a men’s and women’s apparel collection. Since then, it has worked on many collaborations, launched in various countries and gained recognition as a major footwear brand.
Tunes were provided by Dune Rats on the decks, hotdogs and chicken tacos by Woofy’s and beverages from Batlow Cidern, Absolut Botanik and Santa Vittoria. Local artist Harrison Earl was also present to paint his trademark aesthetic onto Vans shoes.

Angel Muse, the fragrance that you will #hatetolove, launches in Sydney

Mugler shakes up the Angel galaxy by launching a new Angel Muse Eau de Parfum at the Pailisade Hotel at Millers Point on Tuesday 27 September 2016.

The new fragrance comes in a new rose gold coloured futuristic bottle with a silver metal ring. It has been described as having both a hazelnut cream and vetiver scent.

Pink was the theme of the event and the drinks matched the colour scheme. Guests drank pink prosecco, rose and Patron tequilla cocktails made from pink grapefruit juice, lime and a strawberry to garnish. For canapes guests enjoyed: spiced cauliflower with almond crunch and smokey sauce; tomato salad with ricotta, confit eschallot, basil, soft bread and balsamic; fresh prawns and oysters; and an Asian noodle salad with minced ginger, pepper and bean sprouts.

The most impressive food was the dessert table which included: a large pink coloured cake; cup cakes with pink icing; pink glazed donuts; pink marshmallows; pink nougat; red candied apples; large lollipops; pink musk sticks, purple and white candy canes;  and bowls of fresh strawberries and raspberries.

The event was MCed by the former Miss World Australia Erin V. Holland. Other notable guests from the make-up world included celebrity make-up artist Michael Brown.

Guests viewed a video clip with the ultimate rock chick, Georgia May Jagger, starring as the face of Thierry Mugler’s Angel Muse. Georgia May Jagger follows in the footsteps of her mother, Jerry Hall, as the face of Mugler. In the clip, Georgia May Jagger surrenders to her addiction. As she goes to seize the bottle, a number of cosmic like circles form around her as if to be engulfed by a whirlwind of the fragrance. She then holds the bottle close to her.

The fragrance invites women to shamelessly surrender to the fragrance.

Chatswood Chase Sydney hosted their annual Spring / Summer VIP Runway Event to unveil the latest collections from both Australian and international designers on Thursday 15 September 2016.

Vera Wang Bridal Spring 2017 Collection is launched in Sydney

The Vera Wang Bridal Spring 2017 Showcase launched at the Treasury Room of the Intercontinental Hotel Sydney on Wednesday 14 September 2016.

The Vera Wang Bridal Spring 2017 Collection. ‘Désir à l’Anglaise’, was launched for the first time in Australia. The collection was flown straight from the New York Showroom for this event. It was inspired by old English glamour, mixing modern silhouettes with a vintage features such as corsetry, plunging necklines and exquisite hand beaded details.

The Vera Wang Bridal Spring 2017 Showcase had 104 attendees. Special guests included Miss Universe Australia 2015 Monika Radulovic, Miss World Australia 2013 Erin Holland, actor Grace Huang and Danielle Cormack, Married at First Sight Erin Bateman and Christie Jordee, international designer Isabel Gatuslao and socialite Christa Billich.

Guests indulged in Pommery Champagne and a bespoke high tea designed by InterContinental Sydney. The high tea consisted of a savoury selection of salmon wraps, egg and cucumber finger sandwiches and ceasar salad wraps, and a sweet selection of hazelnut slices, sticky date macaroons, raspberry and dark chocolate tarts, and apple caramel tarts. Warm scones were also served with cherry jam and cream.
