1936 Bar at The Oaks Neutral Bay has been transformed into the The Kirin Sakara Pop-Up Bar

On Wednesday 22 June 2016 media and bloggers were invited to experience the unique KIRIN Sakara pop-up bar in the renowned 1936 Bar at The Oaks Neutral Bay.

The 1936 Bar has been transformed into a Japanese garden, with traditional lanterns, bamboo archways, decorative bonsai trees and a striking LED cherry blossom tree installation. The bar will recreate a Sakaba (pronounced saka-ba), an informal Japanese bar, with traditional rice paper screens used to form a series of cosy private seating pods within the bar space.

Guests enjoyed an exclusive menu of Kirin craft beers, ciders and a special mulled cider alongside Danny Russo’s fusion dining menu featuring classic Japanese dishes with an Oaks twist, which included: nori crackers, smoked bonito aioli and black sesame; vegetable gyoza, radish, nashi pear and dipping sauce; Japanese disco fries, smoked salmon, teriyaki and chilli; pork belly yakitorj, cucumber, snowpeas, pickled ginger salad and aioli; shichimi spiced soft shell crab sliders with slaw; crispy miso chicken wings, green shallots and pickled ginger, sesame and aioli; smoked rump cap, radish cucumber and red onion salad with wasabi condiments; pork katsu burger with nashi pear slaw, teriyaki and dashi; and chicken karaage with chilli aioli.
