Tella Balls Dessert Bar launches in Sydney with a new sweet creation

When I told a friend I was going to the Tella Balls Dessert Bar launch in Dulwich Hill on Thursday 25 February 2016, she told me she had been stalking them on Facebook. I thought that was a bit extreme until I found out that they have been posting tantalising images on Facebook and Instagram for months before the opening.

Further, the Dessert Bar is run by Aki Daikos and Simon Kappatos – the same people who own The Foodcraft Espresso and Bakery in Erskineville – who created an instagram sensation.last year with their Tella Ball shake (a nutella ball doughnut on top of a nutella milkshake).

Like its predecessor, the Dessert Bar has its own new creation , the gelat-dough, which is doughnut flavoured gelato, shaped like a doughnut.

The Dessert Bar also has-the new Crazy Cronut Shakes ($12) with four options. There’s the double chocolate shake (topped with a Kit Kat cronut), the peanut butter shake (topped with a Reese’s cronut), the salty caramel shake (topped with a caramel cronut and pretzels), and the Tella Ball Crazy Cronut Shake (topped with a Nutella cronut).

However, only eight out of their 40 menu items are made with nutella. Their desserts also encompass the chocolatey goodness of Kit Kat, Snickers, Oreo, Reese, Cadbury Flake, Maltesers and Kinder Bueno.

There are four choices of milkshakes ($10) that are topped with a Nutella ball. They include chocolate, salted caramel, strawberry and vanilla.

When it comes to waffles there are many options.

There is the Tella Bella ($16), their signature housemade Belgian waffles topped with Nutella, fresh strawberries and vanilla bean gelato.

Their Ricotta and Blueberry waffles ($16) are topped with ricotta and blueberries, drizzled with Canadian maple syrup, and finished with a dollop of mascarpone.

Their Waffle Burger ($20) is vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two housemade Belgian waffles, with lashings of Nutella, fresh strawberries, and fresh banana.

And their Choc Art ($16) is a combination of melted milk and white chocolate poured over Belgian Waffles.

There are also lots of cakes and mousses, in case all the other sweet treats are not enough.

It is not surprising then, that all who attended demolished the Tella Balls and cronuts, lapped up all of the gelato and sorbet, and chowed down the pancakes, waffles and crepes.
